Survival Guide: More blow dry than wind swept

We have had the first night of the St Judes storm and what an aftermath!  With the various disruptions to any sort of transportation this morning, I witnessed some extreme faux pas for this kind of extreme weather.   So I thought I would put together a survival kit for all those who are a little confused as how to dress in these conditions so that are you are looking more like this...

than this...

So the weather during the day swirls in spells of sunshine, rain, minus temperatures and extreme winds, and as its Britain, all within an hour.

What NOT to wear:

1. Suede is a no go, thats a given! So put away that suede Balenciaga..now.

2. I know white is so in right now, but you go near that new white trouser suit and by the time you get into the office it will be an opaque latte trouser suit.

3. Ballet pumps... Entering a meeting in squelching wet and soon to be smelly ballet pumps is not so good.

4. Sitting at your desk looking like a drowned denim dog is a little sad on the eyes, so try and avoid denim - it WILL take the longest to dry!

5. Avoid lipgloss - the lines of sticky gloss across your face is quite a chore to get off.

Essentials to wear:

1.  Obviously top of the list is a Burberry trench.  These are lightweight for when the rain settles and it becomes a little warmer but will keep you bone dry the entire way to work. #winning

2. Anything under will be dry thanks to your trench so anything goes..

3.  Boots will avoid any puddle splashings onto your feet and if in extreme cases..bring on the wellington boots. ( I opt for a Jimmy Choo pair myself)

4. The handbag - take into consideration that rain are little droplets of water and will damage the iPad or the Vogue you have sitting in your Louis Vuitton Neverfull (or any equivalent that is a tote/open) so I would recommend a bag with zips and that won't mark.

Then its the question of what to pack so you are fully prepared:

1. Waterproof mascara; lets not resemble a Halloween character.

2. An umbrella...and a decent one at that. Wrestling with an upside down umbrella is just embarrassing. And yes the umbrella will win.

3. Sunglasses.  Thank you to the Roman Emperor that decided to cover his eyes with Emeralds, although we are not using quite the same lavish materials, the sunglasses really are a saviour.  Obviously, in case the sun is back out, use them.  And if you have forgotten your waterproof mascara, use them too.

If you have followed the above survival guide then I would only assume that you are looking great!  So there really is no excuse not to bag yourself a Ryan Gosling and re-create this moment!

Starry Eyed

Coming into AW13 and there are still remnants of stared clothing on the high street, which inspired me to wear mine today! In true Dolce & Gabbana style, they playfully bought back the stars in their AW11 show.  The black and white stars came on sequin dresses, chiffon gowns and man-cut waistcoats.  Clearly the Fash-Pack took to it too, with pieces featuring in every magazine and was seen on Anna dello Russo to Mirander Kerr. So here is a post remebering the starry eyed days.

Fashion Weeks Round Up

As Spring Summer 2013 Fashion Weeks draw to a close, I've put together the key headlines from the month;

1. Aila Wang is still the best dressed little girl in Fashion.  She stepped out to support her uncle...oh just Alexander Wang..in custom made Wang minis; leather skirt and the Parental Advisory Tee and carrying a suede Balenciaga mini City.

2. LVMH bought a stake in J.W Anderson as well as appointing Jonathan the new creative director at LOEWE #proudtobebritish

3. Mirander Kerr was refused entry into the Louis Vuitton show for being fashionably late, ironic!

4. Backpacks are the new IT bags! So with that, no longer will we be purchasing back packs from Eastpack but either searching the attic for that vintage monogram Louis Vuitton that our mum used to wear in the 80s or popping down to Gucci, Saint Laurent or Wang, who have included backpacks in their new season collections.

5. Moncler, Vince and Marc Jacobs all have their sights on an IPO

6. Paris Fashion Week was the perfect setting for the premier of Mademoiselle C; the documentary focused on the former Paris Vogue editor-in-chief, Carine Roitfield: "You're a goddess to people who love fashion."

7. The Isabel Marant for H&M collection pictures were released. And I want PLEASE.

8. This may not be big fashion week news, but how could I not include it? David beckham. Running across London rooftops. In his underwear.

9. And the biggest news on the Fashionsphere, Marc Jacobs is leaving Louis Vuitton after 15 years at the helm.  He has single handily catapulted Louis Vuitton into the highly fashionable brand for clothing, furs and leathers.  Obviously in true Marc style, he wasn't going to go without a bang! His last show for LV saw a crazed Gothic amusement park with Stephen Sprouse graffiti-ed models, chain draped denim and over the top feathered headpieces.  As well as the fountain, lift and carousel, he had Edie Campbell, Kate Upton, Eva Herzigova, Elle McPherson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Natasha Poly and Cara Delevigne walking for him.    ALL HAIL MARC JACOBS!
